If you’re after a drink-now, deliciously assertive white wine, this is your drop. Share it with loved ones on important occasions, or open a bottle tonight – life’s too short, right?
The colour and aroma of this wine are highlights – a clear, pale yet golden yellow hue comes to life with citrus, apricots and orange blossom on the nose. The palate structure is rich, round and textured, as is typical of this variety, with intense stone fruits, pear and underlying citrus notes. The 2013 season was warmer than 2012, resulting in a fuller style of wine. It ends refreshingly crisp thanks to bracing acidity.
Our viognier fruit is selected from low-yielding vines for optimum balance, ripeness and intensity of flavour. The fruit was hand harvested, gently whole bunch pressed and cold settled for 24 hours. We ferment and age this variety in old French barrels for maximum richness and complexity with a series of selected yeasts and natural yeast. The wine was aged in old French oak for 12 months. Lightly fined and filtered to ensure purest flavours and clarity.
Food Pairing Notes
Viognier is an exceptionally great food variety, and works well with spicy dishes. Try this with a red duck curry served with lychees.
